Shani, a lady from Kildare in Ireland- Has strong roots in South Africa, with a young life and time spent there, never to be forgotten!

Born, South African, she spent her youth there; before getting itchy feet to travel the world.   Many countries later, she was washed up on South African shores once more, to marry and honeymoon in Tsitsikamma Forest in the Eastern Cape.  A place she longs to re-visit some day.

Some lucky day!

They honeymooned on the Cape Garden Route in 2002, and their favourite place, by far was the Tsitsikamma Lodge and surrounding forest, near Storms River.  It’s rustic structure, using the natural woods, makes it blend into trees.  It is one of a kind. Unique!

Tsitsikamma Lodge

The comfortable log cabin, complete with jucuzzi and outside deck, beside a little stream, facing the forest was so relaxing. they had their own private braai fire, lit by the staff in the evening; drinks delivered on ice; then their meats and salads.  It was absolutely wonderful and so romantic.  Personal pampering and tranquility! There was a little bridge across the river leading into the forest beyond.

Canopy tours

During the day, they had sailed through the trees, doing a canopy tour and visited the Big Tree, a famous yellowood tree over 700 years old.

Big Tree

That is only one of Shani’s great memories of South Africa; other favourites include family weekends watching rugby; spending time around the braai fire together; the fantastic weather that they took for granted and; don’t forget the beach; last but not least…..

wearing less clothes, and more flip flops!

What better day to feature her story, than, on her birthday, with St Patrick’s Day tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Shani!

Hope you enjoyed reading my story?

  2. Hi there, I believe your website may be having internet browser compatibility issues.

Whenever I take a look at your site in Safari, it looks fine however, if opening in
IE, it has some overlapping issues. I just wanted to provide you with a quick heads up!
    Apart from that, great site!
