It’s a Sign- Cosmos

It’s a sign. Cosmos is a Sign.

As the days of the week roll on, and the months of the year are eaten up by time, you realise how little control we have over what we can or will have to do come March, April then into May. But it depends where you are in the world.

In South Africa the sign of cosmos growing in abundance beside the roadsides, sprinkled across fields, hardly noticed by the locals, means it’s coming. Winter is on the way.

I guess the petite beauty of the fragile petals that dance in the first cool breezes of autumn softens the blow a little.

Pale pinks and darker shades, so colourfully co ordinated transform the hillsides, with wave upon wave of cheeky bobbing blooms. It’s coming, winter is on the way!

Cosmos is a sign.

Fields of cosmos are so beautiful, they don’t look so good in our northern climate.

The climate here is damp when the weather turns, it’s not damp there. I suppose the different soils affect the colours too. Thanks Liz

Such a beautiful flower. The momentous I have brought with me to Canada is a painting of the veld filled with these colourful flowers.

Not saying ditto, but I did. I have two watercolours painted by a local Pennington, Natal coast artist that have travelled with me since about 1988. I may share them one day and see if we can find the artist!!! They are on my bedroom wall. I love cosmos! Thanks for reading. Liz

  5. Beautiful photos 🙂 We have Winter is on the way for us too in Australia, but it would be so much prettier with Cosmos around!
